While I respect his service to this country, the rest of his days were not so respectable.

I do respect his military service. His treatment and disrespect of todays troops is the cause of my dislike for this slug. His political ethics also sucked.

Yep, old "don't bribe me now bribe me later" has gone on to greener pastures.

I left that district before he became the congressman, but his game was simple. He brought home the bacon, and if he didn't, he lied and told the people he had. His combat record was genuine, but he used it for self-glorification.

Fixed that for ya! RIP you corrupt political whore. All of the lies and corruption from his many years in office overshadows his military service record.

He may have been one of the good guys, but that was in a land far far away and in another time. Teddy was in the military too and look what an a-hole he was.

Good riddance to another bad apple.

Speaking ill of someone who can no longer retort (defend themselves) is too easy. Besides, there are many live ones to go after.

I thought of Murtha the same way I think of McCain...I respect the military service he rendered to this country and will never, EVER, say anything to demean what he did for this country in wartime. However, like McCain, I think Murtha's politics SUCKED!!! Although Murtha was more of a crooked, pork barrelling, scumbag, weasel of a politican than McCain is. I hope he rests in peace due to his military service, but hope he pays for the immorality he showed while in the House, especially when he called his fellow Marines "murderers."

I'm glad I wrote a nasty letter to the worthless old turd before he croaked. What a waste! 36 yrs of corruption and being buddies with the wicked witches pelosi and clinton. (the names when used here don't deserve capitalization) Good riddance just like kennedy... Wish the rest would follow suit.

I am not saddened, but find no joy in one's untimely passing.
When he ran those Marines up the flag pole and condemned them without the facts laid out, I was incensed, he forgot the Semper part of his creed.
He should've been the 1st to call a halt to accusations and call for fairness and reasoning. As a former jarhead it cuts deeper for me.
I wish his family well and do have condolence for their loss.

His mistake was going to a military hospital. I couldn't help but wonder at the headline "doctors inadvertently..."

Oop's.

Here's the comment that I just left on the Washington Time story about his death.

"I'll respect his military service. That is all.
I am amazed, I figured it'd take a crowbar to pry his large porker azz out of his congressional office. All it took was a scalpel.
I hope Ol' Chesty don't kick your butt too bad for dissing His Marines, but I doubt that you'll meet up with him, you're surely headed in the opposite direction."

Living in Pa, I can tell you. John Murtha has Been an embarrassment to the State for many years. And if not for his seniority and the Hundreds of thousands of Dollars he brought to Pa, he would have been gone years ago. It’s a vicious cycle. The longer in Office the more corrupt they become, and the harder it is to get them out. But what do I know. Just another one of those Western Pa. Gun clinging Red necks.
