3 EXPLOSIVE DEVICES GO OFF IN MELBOURNE

A Molotov cocktail and two other explosive devices have been detonated in suburban Melbourne, destroying a rubbish bin and spreading debris along roads and a nature strip.

Victoria Police say a Molotov cocktail was detonated on Kiwana Grove, Montmorency, about 8.30pm (AEST) on Friday.

The force of the explosion sent debris flying 15 metres from the device.

About two hours later, another suspicious device exploded on a nature strip on Glen Park Road in Eltham.

Police were also called to Eltham Lower Park after a third explosive device was detonated in a wheelie bin on top of a table.

The explosion destroyed the bin and sent rubbish flying around the scene.

No one was injured as a result of the incidents, which are believed to be linked.

Police have not revealed the content of the three devices.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in Melbourne's north overnight is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Hate bombs, hate them, hate them, hate them. Anybody who would use a bomb should have the decency and the guts to sit on the bomb till its used, preferably inside a deep hole in a remote location.
