Default 1910 German Luger

I would like the value of a Luger stamped BWM(Maker stamp, I think?) on the receiver. All the parts seem to match the SN of 9797 and 1910 is stamped on the top. The gun is in great condition with 95+% bluing and a clean bore. It has two mags (not original) and a holster that is in fair shape. My father brought in back from Europe at the end of WW2.

This gun has been reblued and it is a very poor unprofessional job. It has been heavily buffed and the corners and edges are badly rounded. It is now of value only as a shooter and worth around $600. The spare mag is worth an additional $125. I don't know the condition of the holster, but it may also add some value.

All true, unfortunately. If it had been original, even if only in so-so condition, it would have brought a decent price with a premium for being the first year in which the guns were dated.

As is, the collector value is about nil and as wonderwhippet says, it is a shooter. FWIW, the gun was not like that when it was captured; it was refinished (and ruined) right here in the U.S.

BTW, the letters are DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken).

Thanks for your help. I have no idea how the gun was handled or who did the work. I never remember my father having anything done to the gun and have trouble believing the work was done after he acquired the pistol so I'm thinking whatever happened to it must have been done in Europe b4 his return to the USA.

definitely in the $600 shooter class, too bad about the refinish it could have been worth a lot more!

It can't be .30 Mauser; it might be .30 Luger, but guns in that caliber were not used by the German army in either WWI or WWII.
