Default 44 mag cases

i have reloaded for my 44 mags for years and i doubt i have culled 15-20 rounds for case failure.i generally use 300 grain cast bullets with 20 grains of 2400.i know this isnt a light load but am i missing out on some case flaws i cant see.i look at cases for splits,i look at fired primers for over pressure signs,i also always keep my cases at proper length.i know i have reloaded some of these cases at least 15-20 times whats your thoughts old semperfi

Sounds like you are covering all the basics.I too use a 300 gr cast swc at around 1000 fps for my deer hunting round out of a Ruger Super Blackhawk. It is very accurate.

15-20 cycles is a good run for a magnum loading in .44 mag. Maybe its just time to get some new brass. I use the same 20 gr. of 2400 under a cast 240 gr gascheck bullet. Its a pretty light load compared to normal .44 magnum standards but will still drive a hole clean through a 300 pound hog at 50 yds. And i have a lot of cases that I have cycled 30+ times with this load...

Started reloading for .44Mag back in '77. I have never thrown out a case unless it showed signs of damage. Never tried the 300gr. bullets, but I loaded, and shot, thousands of 240gr. bullets in both pistol, and rifle. I do not own, nor have I ever owned a case trimmer!

Lamentations Chapter 5:
1. Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.
2. Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
3. We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers [are] as widows.
5. Our necks [are] under persecution: we labour, [and] have no rest.
16. The crown is fallen [from] our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!
21. Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.
