Public Service Announcement - The Firearms Forum

Couple of years ago, I would occasionally see a public service announcement. Nice looking white lady, with short dark hair. They always started the same way. "Hello, I'm Laura Bush". Then she'd go on about whatever she was making the announcement about.

I thought that was quite helpful. I knew Barbara Bush, when I saw her. Laura - not so much. I recognized Nancy Reagan right off. Rosalynn Carter - not so much. Betty Ford - not so much.

So, when these women would get on TV, and start off, "Hello, I'm Rosalynn Carter", or "Hello, I'm Nancy Reagan", that was always helpful.

So, the other day, I see this announcement. Youngish black woman. Starts right into a spiel about how we need to send money to Haiti. I thought, "Oprah done lost weight, again". Then, "Wait a minute. That ain't Oprah. Who is that?" About half-way through what she was sayin', I decided it was Michelle Obama.

So why, I wondered, did she not start out with, "Hello, I'm Michelle Obama"? Is everbody in the country supposed to recognize her? Hell, even Oprah (and everbody in the world knows her) starts her commercials with "Hi, I'm Oprah Winfrey".

It does seem arrogant. Everything about them (prez & fam) seems arrogant, really.

Thank you. That's the word I wanted. Old Timer's Disease set in, and all I could come up with was "uppity", and I didn't want to use that one when talking about a black woman.

What she needs is an orthodontist or someone to FIX HER JAW. I know it's not her fault, but this sure doesn't help that snob b^%$h self-rightous look when she's trying to be "one of the little people".

It looks like her skin is on a little too tight... Kinda like a drum, but less useful and nowhere near as pleasing to the ears.

I have seen that same commercial to and I thought from my point of view, she was demanding we give money. Her tone and her words suggest to me she is not asking us but rather telling us to donate money. Far as I am concerned, enough of my money has been taken from me. I am not about to give any of it away. Especially in this day and age when almost everyone hates America but here we come, every diaster with money and supplies. They are loving us then, but would be quick to burn our flags in their streets and claim that America is evil. Screw them all!

I think she's rather pretty. But yes, her attitude does generally seem to fit more with royalty than with the wife of a public servant.

Rather arrogant.

If I help directly, I don't want it to go to the Voodoo drs. who were complaining that all the supply's were being distributed by Christian groups.

Warning, Christian groups better have all their paperwork straight if they try to rescue orphans even if there is no place left to issue paperwork. Child trafficking I think. Someone forgot to pay off some crooked official I guess. Dumb Americans should know better. Payoffs are more important than helping victims.

Corruption. The only cash crop left in Haiti. Puts me in mind of Chicago and Washington D.C.
