--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Far away, from friends and loved ones,
'Neath the palms a Soldier lay,
Gathered round him all his buddies,
Lift his head and hear him say:

Theres a lamplight in the window,
Where an Angel from above,
Gently rocks my baby cradle,
With such warm and tender love.

"Oh Mother dearest darling Mother,
It would ease this awful pain,
If you'd sing until I'm sleeping,

Then...............................
Rock my cradle once again."
