I have a Glock 31 and a Kimber Classic II. I am pretty consistent with the Kimber at 25 yards but with the Glock I am (relatively) all over the place. Since the Kimber leads me to believe I can shoot I'm thinking about what can be done to improve upon my Glock performance.
The Glock has factory fixed sights. I'm open to replacing them but I'm not really sure that is my problem... Any suggestions (please)?

Hi AAA........welcome to TFF.
1911-types and Glocks handle very differently. The first thing to do is to determine if it's you or the Glock. Try shooting the Glock seated at a table from a sandbag (or other) rest.....very slowly and aiming center target carefully. Shoot 3 or 4 groups of 5 shots each. If it shoots decent groups, on target, all you need is more practice. If it shoots decent groups, off target, all you need is adjustable sights. If it still doesn't group, try different loads and brands of ammunition until you find one the Glock likes. If that doesn't help, put the damn thing in the microwave and melt it down.....or, you can take it to a gunsmith and see what's wrong with it. |

Thanks for your reply.
I've done pretty much what you have suggested. Even under these conditions my groups are not consistent. I always seem to end up with at least one (or more) errant shot inches off to one side or the other. I'm considering new sights for the sake of giving me some adjustability but I'm thinking it may be an ammo issue... I sure do like my Kimber. Last edited by ackackadak; 05-11-2003 at 09:22 AM.. |

Glocks just dont fit me at all.
I do pretty well with my Safari Arms Enforcer, but I cant hit squat with a Glock. Sooooo..... I remain Glock-free to this day. (Except of course for inventory... good to have Glocks in inventory...)

If you ask me, the glock, although a highly useful tool, doesn't belong in the same category as the Kimber at all. They are accurate by and large, but not like the superior accuracy of the Kimber. These two guns are so different I'm surprised you were able to shoot the glock at all. Grip angle, trigger, sight system, they're all different. I can almost guarantee it's not you, you're just used to the Kimber and the glock isn't anything like it. Try Springfield XD. You'll like it much better, I promise. It's less costly, too, with better or at least on-par quality.
