I've been wondering about wood panneling like that.... Are those individual boards nailed up or is it a sheet with grooves made to look like individual boards?

Mike they walls in our home are 1 inch by 8 inch T & G Beaded knotty pine cut back in the late 50's. Heck the walls are a real 4 inch thick, the new walls I put in I had had tho use 2x6 and cut them down to fit. the Roof is 1x4 T&G pine no plywood in the house except for the floor the sub floor is also 1x4 T&G pine almost all the 2 bys are heart of pine. This place is built to last. But if a fire starts it is gone.

I have some of that, too. Here's a pic of my den (taken several years ago; you can tell by the CRT monitor on the desk).

So....what you're saying is...they don't make that kind of stuff anymore?
I like the look of those boards for a wall. My grandparents housw had a wall with that on it and it reminds me of them. I'll bet a sawmill might cut those for me. Expensive I'm sure but might be worth it.... I'll use it in a limited area.

Ron, that is a beautifully done room you've built for Carla. She is lucky to have a hubby like you, but then, I suspect she already knows that. I'm with you and Mike, wood paneling adds an ambiance to a room that is simply not possible to achieve any other way. Seriously, have you considered installing a sprinkler system or other kind of fire suppression system, Ron?

I have thought of putting in a sprinkler system. Just haven't gotten a ROUND TO IT yet.
