Who here eats SPAM? I like SPAM. I hardly ever eat it but sometimes get the taste for it. I like it cold, and I like it cooked. I like it with eggs over easy, but it's not one of those foods that you put on your item list of must have's. It's great to have in the truck when your night fishing or out shooting and your hungry and it's handy to have around. It obviously has a long shelf life probably due to the high salt content. It's also cheap.
Why do you think that people don't like it? We all know it's not healthy, but neither is pizza and people eat that. Is it because people instantly think of it as being a poor person's food? I think it was a food that was ate during the depression. Is it because people just think it's gross? If so, why do they eat hot dogs? Also, I don't think it is a man vs. woman thing because my wife likes it as much as me. Both sides of my grand parents ate it and my parents used to make it for us kids with pancakes and eggs. I know why I like it. Because I am mentally deranged. What do you think?

When I was working several of our plants made the cans for Spam both 7 and 12 ounce. We made many MILLIONS of them for Hormel. I rather liked the product. But the Koreans loved it. If you gave a case of Spam to a Korean businessman he would be in your debt forever.

Spam, contrary to popular belief, is good for you, it's pure Pork Shoulder.:

Fried spam, eggs( fried), fried potatoes, fruit punch. Now that's a good camp breakfast. I honestly never thought I would eat the stuff till I too my wife back when we were dating camping and I let he choose the meal. But damn that stuff just grows on ya

If you're not into Pork Shoulder:
There are several different flavors of Spam products, including: Spam Classic – original flavor[7] Spam Hot & Spicy – with Tabasco flavor[7] Spam Less Sodium – "25% less sodium"[7] Spam Lite – "33% less calories and 50% less fat" – made from pork shoulder meat, ham, and mechanically separated chicken[7] Spam Oven Roasted Turkey[7] Spam Hickory Smoke flavor[7] Spam Spread – "if you're a spreader, not a slicer ... just like Spam Classic, but in a spreadable form"[7] Spam with Bacon[7] Spam with Cheese[7] Spam Garlic (see photos below) Spam Golden Honey Grail – a limited-release special flavor made in honor of Monty Python's Spamalot Broadway musical[citation needed] Spam Mild[citation needed] Spam Hot Dogs[citation needed]

I like SPAM, but I like canned corned beef better. I keep both in my camp gear.

The only possible reason for that is, you were locked in a closet with a can of Spam when you were small.

Well, I guess being in and out of the military multiple times and eating all their variations of field chow must have killed most of my taste buds, from C-rations cooked over a mo-gas stove or eaten cold all the way through to the MRE's, I have to say there's a few there that I would have to be purt near starving to eat.
But Spam... fry up a slice and toss it on a couple pieces of buttered toast. Out in the woods, crack a can open and cut it up, chomp on that with some Ritz crackers. That's my two best ways to eat it. My daughter detests the stuff. She was at this youth challenge thing where she could win $20 if she ate a whole can, made it most of the way before upchucking... I told her don't feel bad, you aint supposed to eat a whole can at one sitting, the salt would probably do the same thing to me, and I like the stuff! |

The only thing you guys,,, is, well, it gives me gas. I'm not trying to be gross here I'm just saying,,, whew!!! My poor wife. I hope I don't cut loose in church in the morning because we are new to this church and if I crack one I'll just have to give my wife the ""Did you do that look". I hope I don't fart during prayer time. I'm just saying.

Man cannot live on bread alone, he must have Spam.
Gosh, I love it and always have, even though it is not really good for you. I even have to sneak it from my wife every now and then, cause she don't approve of me eating so much of it. But you know what (bless her heart) if I run low on Spam the next time I look in the pantry there is another can or two. So I know she takes care of me. Or is wanting to put me 6 ft. under, one or the other. LOL.

BTW, does fried spam taste anything like fried bologna? The past couple of weeks when my sis and I went grocery shopping at Costco they were sampling fried bologna with grey poupon mustard on it, and it was DELICIOUS!!!
