Marlin Golden 39A - The Firearms Forum

Where is the serial number or identifiers for a golden 39a located? I have my fathers old 22 that i remember him owning as far back as the early to mid 60's. The gun has about 60-70% bluing and the gold on the trigger is all gone. It has tremendous sentimental value. I am just curious as to its age and value.

I believe if you open the loading lever you will find it on the bottom tang of the frame.

The serial number is R4866.

It's hard to find a good 39A for less than $300

Terry, what 22WRF said!
The Marlin M-39 is a lever gun which will shoot with many bolt guns, as to accuracy, in the field, and sometimes, off the bench!
Easy to take down, so easy to travel with, and reliable as the sunrise.
This one's a 'Keeper'.
