Default Secret Service has charged someone else making threats

Man charged with threat against Obama in Utah
AP

1 hr 57 mins ago

SALT LAKE CITY – Federal prosecutors have charged a man with making threats against President Barack Obama after he allegedly told a bank employee in Utah he was on a mission to kill the president.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported on its Web site Thursday that Daniel James Murray allegedly made the remark to a teller at a bank in St. George on May 27 as he withdrew $13,000 from an account.

Murray's whereabouts are unknown. A court affidavit says Murray is from New York and has recently been in California, Utah, Georgia, Oklahoma and possibly Texas.

The U.S. Secret Service says Murray has at least eight registered firearms, the Tribune reported.

Malcolm Wiley, a spokesman for the Secret Service in Washington, told The Associated Press he had no comment Thursday.

Well, the Secret Service is looking for someone else making threats against Obama. How long will it be before the "fair and impartial" media starts equating gun owners and conservatives with potential assassins? They already equate us with potential torrorists
Granted, I don't in any way agree with making threats on someone, but soon the press will be trying to paint all of us a potential threats. Well, moreso that they already are.

Notice this part...
"The U.S. Secret Service says Murray has at least eight registered firearms, the Tribune reported."

They just HAD to throw that in, didn't they

Rule #One:
It has been, and always will be, a HUGE "no-no" to threaten the President of the United States.

What MrKirker said. :/ Disagreeing with Obama or any president, working to get their opponent elected, even working to get them impeached, is one thing. Making threats against their life in a public place where somebody hears and reports it *will* get you the Secret Service's immediate attention. It doesn't matter why you said it or even if you meant it. It would have been the same when George Bush (either of them) was president, or anybody else since we've had a Secret Service.

If that's a problem for you, well then, you've got a problem.

Cabelas is selling dry boxes of ~300 rounds of surplus reloaded ammunition that has a great reputation for being high quality reloads. You can snag a box of 300 for about $95. thats what I'm gonna be doing. It is, however, back ordered. Get it while you can. They have 357, .40, and .45 that I saw.

Here is the link....

Like I said, I in no way condone making threats against anyone. But I remeber when Bush was POTUS, liberals would publically call for his death, and nothing was ever done about it. When the Secret Service would do something, other liberals would start screaming "free speech" and "1st Amendment" even though the law had been broken. But now that a flaming hard core liberal socialist "won" the election, the liberals are all for enforcing that law. Even going as far as to paint all gun owners, veterans, and people who did not vote for Barry as a potential threat.

Okay, then there are nitwits on both sides that whine when the Secret Service shows interest in those who make threats against a sitting U.S. president's life. I assume that isn't news to you or anybody here. (As a much-missed late friend of mine liked to say on all too many occasions, STUPIDITY SHOULD BE OUTLAWED!) ;-) I can just about guarantee to you that the Secret Service and/or FBI also checked up on every idiot that made any direct threats against the life of George W. Bush in public (or in private to someone who reported those threats). If the news had reported everything, I doubt they'd have had time to report on any other subject.

Quote:
THREATS AGAINST PRESIDENT - 18 USC
871, makes it a Federal crime or offense for anyone to willfully make a true threat to injure or kill the President of the United States.

A person can be found guilty of that offense only if all of the following facts are proved beyond a reasonable doubt:

First: That the person uttered words alleged to be the threat against the President;

Second: That the person understood and meant the words he used as a true threat; and

Third: That the person uttered the words knowingly and willfully.

A "threat" is a statement expressing an intention to kill or injure the President; and a "true threat" means a serious threat as distinguished from words used as mere political argument, idle or careless talk, or something said in a joking manner.

The essence of the offense is the knowing and willful making of a true threat. So, if it is proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the person knowingly made a true threat against the President, willfully intending that it be understood by others as a serious threat, then the offense is complete; it is not necessary to prove that the person actually intended to carry out the threat.
