We had the funeral today at 1:00PM. Mom did her best to hold back the crying, but you could still tell it was hard for her. But the thing that amazes me most was how many people were there. I mean I was proud to know my Dad had touched so many peoples lives, but WOW. There was over 500 people there. Quite a few flew from out of state and some even out of country. Just shows what losing a good person can do, you know? Well good-bye everyone, I'll check in every now and then, but til then, Good luck.

This is very poignant for me. My father, who was early 80's in age died about 10 years ago from a very advanced stage of Alzheimer's disease. When we gathered for the funeral, I had no idea if anyone would even attend his funeral. He had been "out of circulation" for about 10 years.
The Mass at the church, the same church that I grew up in was packed and the number of younger people who came up to speak so highly of my father, a very humble man, just floored me. Funerals can be so cathartic and healing. I ffer my condolences.
