I went to the Gun show in Houston today without it. But my dad wanted me to pick up a new mag for it. so i bought this 10 round extended clip. it turned out to be the wrong mag.

Hi therockrt72.....welcome to TFF.

Something doesn't add up here. The Mk.IV, Series 70 Colts all took a single stack mag. In fact, I don't know of any Colt Gov't Model, or any other Colt M1911 type pistol that takes double stack magazines.

I'm tempted to say that what you have is a Mk.IV, Series 70 slide on somebody else's frame....perhaps a Llama IX-C which takes a 10 round magazine....or a Para-Ordnance double stacker.

It also depends WHERE it says "Series 70..." on the SLIDE or the BARREL...

My BARREL says that, but that is ALL that is on my gun from a Colt Series 70....

My SLIDE says "Ithaca..." Which draws a lot of attention from people who say, "WOW, When did ITHACA start making modern two-tone combat .45s???"

damn your good. I've never really taken the time to look at it, but now that i did it does have a para-Ordnance frame.

he bought this gun at a gun show about 13-14 years ago. why would they change the frame like that other than obvious reason (higher capacity). and also would this do anything to the performance.

Here are some sources for Para Ordnance Mags (but they ain't cheap!):

http://www.gunaccessories.com/Magazi...raOrdnance.asp

http://www.paraord.com/pages/highcapmags.html

http://www.impactguns.com/store/para_ordnance.html

http://www.outdoorsuperstore.com/pro...EMENT+MAGAZINE

And yes....if you get the proper magazine for your frame, it should feed fine.

Good Luck.....XR
