Which are your favorite .45 Colt Loads: - The Firearms Forum

I just ordered 1000 Cast .45 Colt Bullets in 250gr RNFP - .452.

These will be the first .45 Colt Loads I have ever loaded and I'll be using New Starline Brass.

I would appreciate it if any of you would share some of you favorite loads for that bullet. I am NOT looking for Ruger, Contender or rifle loads, just general target and fun shooting loads.

Soon, I'll also be ordering 500 Cast .45 Colt 255gr SWC Bullets. Any suggestions, for preferred loads, for that bullet will also be appreciated.

7.5 gr unique. Nice light load for knocking over steel gongs.

I load mine over 5 grains of Trail Boss. These are really light loads. Recoil about like a 22LR out of my Rossi 92 lever gun. And easy shooting out of my 5.5" bbl Taurus Gaucho SAA revolver. A plus with the Trail Boss is the bulk density is such that it would be difficult to double charge a case.

same load i use under 250gn swc, used in 45 derringer and Tarus Judge. in the derringer i can actually hit a target (9 in plate) at 8 ft!

The latest caliber or gear is no substitute for experience and skill. Rifles and cartridges don't make hits -- shooters do. Fact of life: After Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!
