Default finally picked up my first 1911 yesterday.

here you go guys, my first 1911, it's a kimber compact aluminum. it's in really good shape. but i have one question. its pretty hard to pull the slide all the way back to latch the slide stop. you guys know why?

With all them magazines it must be used? Has it been shot at all if not the slide will loosen up a little. If it has been shot and you think it should be loosened up, than could you narrow down what you think the problem is

Very nice lookin' piece.

If it's very difficult to pull back the slide, I wouldn't doubt the previous owner added a heavy recoil spring.

the owner told me he shot around 1000 rounds through it, and it's been sitting in his safe for the last 3 years, i'll see how it goes at the range. see how it shoots. and i'll let you guys know.

The compact uses a 22 lb recoil spring so get used to it.

Replace the recoil spring every 2500 roundsand your new Kimber will be trouble free.

ahh.. i see 22lb spring huh? thanks for the info, i better keep track of how many rounds then. how much are springs?
