Sure hate to have to tell the boss I was late for work because a rock rolled over my truck. Ouch!

I'm flattered. Pull it to the desktop and zoom way in. The pixel color gradations are too good for Photoshop unless you want to work one pixel at a time, and even then it is way too much work.

I'd rather spend my time creating a picture of Hillary fondling Madonna.

Well, jokeman (GB), here it is:

A cubic yard of rock weighs about a ton. V = one cubic yard.

V = 4/3 * 3.14 * (r*r*r)
V = 1.3 x 3.14 x (12.5)ˆ3
V = 1.3 x 3.14 x 1953.125
V = 7972 c.f.
V = 295 c. yd.
295 cu. yds. = 295 tons (590567 pounds).

Using a simple ratio, a 134,987lb. boulder would measure 5.7 feet in diameter. However, this "simple ratio" equation may not be valid.

In a table of densities an acquaintance found online, rammed sand and loose gravel both had about 1.6 times the density of water, while solid
shale had about 2.6 times the density of water. He's guessing a
boulder is more like solid shale than it is like sand or loose gravel,
both of which would contain a lot of pockets of air.)

Since 2.6/1.6 = 1.625, you could probably multiply the estimate by
1.625 to get a more realistic value. This gives us 590567 x 1.625.

959671 pounds ..... 480 tons.

They showed Caltrans "trying" to blow it up. What bunch of rookies, get some real hard rock miners in there to show em how!

On the news here, they said they had to use 3 different charges to blow it up. Then some of the pieces might have to be "reduced" in size to be able to move them.

yes, I saw them try to blow it. You'd think rookies would know that it's much more fun to use too much than not even come close to using enough.

That's what they were trying to do and it didn't work. Now they claim they were trying to blow off pieces small enuff to work with.
