All true, unfortunately. If it had been original, even if only in so-so condition, it would have brought a decent price with a premium for being the first year in which the guns were dated.
As is, the collector value is about nil and as wonderwhippet says, it is a shooter. FWIW, the gun was not like that when it was captured; it was refinished (and ruined) right here in the U.S.
BTW, the letters are DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken).
