Default Winchester Model 1892 caliber 25-20

I inherited an 1905 Winchester Model 1892 in caliber 25-20. It's shows quite a bit of wear on the blueing (probably 70%) but the fore grip and stock are original and unrefinished. Works well, but there is a slight bend at the end of the loading tube near the end, just in front of the attachment brace. Any ideas on it's value?

Hi Kthomsen.....welcome to TFF!

The Model 1892 was sold as a Rifle (24" bbl), Saddle Ring Carbine (20" bbl), Trapper's Carbine (14", 15", or 16" bbl) or as a Musket (30" bbl).

The Blue Book says (for 70% finish):

Rifle - $1,300 (add 25% for Takedown Model....add 30% for serial # under 168,000)

Carbine - $1,250

Trapper's Carbine - $4,450

Musket - $9,250

Thank you southernshooter and Xracer for your help. It's a 24 inch barrel rifle model, serial number 285XXX (I was able to check online, and that data indicated it was manufactured in 1905). Your posts were very helpful. the rifle belonged to my grandfather, and I can remember using it to go hunt rabbits and gophers on his farm when I was a kid. I even have a couple of pictures of him with it in a saddle scabbard (long gone) when he was a young man on his family's homestead in Idaho. Too much sentimental value to ever part with it, but knowing it's value, I'm going to add it to my home owners insurance policy as an individually declared item. And best of all, it still shoots, even after all these years. I'm looking forward to showing my son how to shoot it when he's a bit older. Thanks again!
