Mike,
Go to "Start", "Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" then "Disk Defrag" it will help to do a disk clean up too. Just follow the steps above, disk clean up should be in the same menu as disk defrag.
Hope it helps.

Sorrry,
It's Bush's rhetoric that caused the computer to have to be defraged in the first place. I forgot to mention that. Thanks for the heads up!
Huck
P.S. Did I mention that he's also considering giving Hallaburton another no bid contract to head up the disk clean up??? I am OUTRAGED!!!!

Oh, i almost forgot. I found the defrag thing. It said that there was 69% free disc space and did'nt need defraged. But i can't help but wonder if it would'nt hurt to do it anyway ??
This computer acts a little groggy compared to the old computer. This one has two hard drives, one being the original and the other came with it. I guess jerold is keeping the company records on the other drive to protect them from all of the porn viruses that i run into every now and then...

I dunno, would it do it any good to defrag even though it says it does'nt need it ??

It never hurts to defrag. Doing the disk clean up will also help. It also might help to run an anti-spyware program like Adaware. Spyware can really slow down a computer.
Huck
P.S. I don't know why anyone would want to defrag a fag... wouldn't it be more fun to frag one? KABOOM!!!!

Before you run defrag, click on disk cleanup and get rid of junk. Then defrag.

There are all kinds of temporary files, off line internet files, obsolete backup files (these have the extension ".bak" that are created by the operation system and accumulate. Running disc cleanup every now and then keeps the clutter of useless files down. You can actually get a lot more agressive in cleaning up files than disc cleanup does, but you need to be careful if you use more agressive cleanup programs. Disk cleanup is very safe; it will not delete files that are critical to the system. You can also clean out your Internet Explorer cach and the Windows prefetch cach. In fact, these should be purged every now and then to speed up your computer.

I have found that the best way todefrag an older computer is to carefully place the frger under the computer pull pin and run away. when the smoke clears return and sweep up the fraged parts tossin trash and the defraging job is completed
