Default Winchester 77

I have a like new Winchester 77 clip fed with 2 magazines. When clean and lubed it functions pretty good. When dirty or not lubed it jams often.
My problem is cleaning it. The barrel pushes into the receiver, retained by a pin. To clean the action the barel must be removed. It seems to me that accuracy will suffer the more times the barrel is removed.
Holding the action open for cleaning is difficult because of the strong recoil spring and lack of bolt hold-open capability.
Anyone have suggestions ?

Spray materials like WD-40 and a M-16 toothbrush are many commercial gun repairer's quick money making friends.
