Default What's Your Most Miraculous Shot Ever?

Mine was made with a Remington 7400 in .243 with Bushnell 3-9X40. I saw a squirrell at the bottom of a hill about 125 yards away. I didn't have a rest, so I just raised and shot. I missed. Then, the squirrell 'prarie dogged' to see what was going on. I held, took a breath, and squeezed off the next round. I made the most beautifully clean hole right between his eyes. Luckily, I had a friend with me, or none of my other friends would have ever believed me.

Any of you guys have any miraculous shot stories. Let's hear them.

Ben

I was hunting does a few years ago with Ruger 270's Dad, my brother, Blackie Booger! Blackie missed a doe 350 yds away with his 270, the deer took off on a dead run, I pulled up with my 30/30 saddle ring carbine, with peep sites, lead her by a significant amount, held over her quite a bit as well! Pulled the trigger, and she piled up like cord wood!!!

I couldn't believe it neither could Blackie! I couldn't make that shot again if I tried! It was just one of those days!!! I have killed several deer with that old gun, but the majority were under 50 yds!

OK. About 2 years ago I was at the indoor range shooting with my wife and shooting really hot when I told her that I could shoot a happy face on the next fresh target. I was shooting 50 feet with my Taurus PT99 9 mm and with 16 shots only, I cut a perfect happy face into the target. There were 4 other people in the room and after my 4th or 5th shot everybody stopped shooting and watched. Every shot lined up, no fliers.

Probably couldn't do it again

It was 15yrs ago with my favorite gun using factory target loads. I shot two eggs with one shot. I just got custody of one of them, but still have to pay support for the other.

Two come to mind. Some of you may not like it, but here it goes anyway. Please keep in mind that I am a long range shooter and I felt this shot...and it was on a game control permit.

Two years ago I took a deer at just over 1000 yards with a 25-06. The conditions were perfect...no wind, dead still evening just before dark, about 50 degrees. I felt the shot, so I took it...and the deer.

The second shot was at a rabit at 160 yard with a .22 Mag. I missed with the first shot, and somehow my brain processed how much I missed by and I hit him twice while he was in a full out sprint. He was sitting still for the first shot and took off running when I missed.

Those are two that come to mind.

I've taken a LOT of deer between 300-650 yards, but that was my first at anywhere close to 1000.

Skeet shooting...Station 4...called doubles for grins and giggles...Got'em!

That was 10 yrs ago. Try as I might, I've never replicated that since.

I shot a flying crow out of midair at about 80 yards with a .22 single shot rifle. It was pure luck, but I kept a straight face and told my brother-in-law to pick his chin back up off of his chest, sit down, and shut up.

Boy, was that a fun day!

This happened about 20 years ago...

Hunting whitetail deer in upstate NY the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I was with a long time friend and hunting buddy on a 100 acer tract of land he owned for hunting and farming.

It started snowing really hard...one of those storms that dumps a foot of snow in a couple of hours. We were in the woods about 1 mile. We were about 100 yards apart and had agreed that we shuld stay put until the snow stopped. I hunkered down under the boughs of a big pine tree.

Visibility was about 10 feet. A large doe came into view. I took aim and shot with a 16 ga. slug. about 5 minutes later, a small buck came into view at the same place. Since I had a party tag, I took aim and shot again. and he dropped...On hearing me shoot my buddy came over and I came out.
We found 5 dead deer.

The first shot went through killing two that were along side the big doe.
The second shot killed the small buck and the shoot through killed another doe.

Real Story.

Also learned a valuable lesson about knowing what is behind your target.

No, but he had been shooting at the bird sitting on a fence before I shot it. He had fired at least 5 time and never made him move. I spouted off, "When you're through fooling around, I'll kill hime for you. He had just told me to go ahead as the bird flew. The bird had flown about 40 feet when I dropped him. I turned around and his eyes were the size of dinner plates and his mouth was wide open. It will never happen again, but as they say, it was priceless!

Riding in a cushman cart bouncing over bumps and stumps holding on the rail with one hand and fired a 22 Browning pistol at a lizard on a rock with the other hand. Shot his head clean off. My buddy who was driving said" I'm taking you to the trap range". I was just a kid at the time. Went with him to the trap range and hit 23/25 and won $40 from the other shooters. It was one of my best remembered days of growing up.

My shot was so much like Heffs its funny.

There were four of us at a Police range that I have permission to shoot on and this kid wanted me to shoot his 9mm pistol, so I popped of a couple rounds and went to hand it back, he says, "oh no, empty the clip" so I looked at a Buzzard flying over the lake behind the burm at over 100 yards away, took aim and killed the sucker dead...I couldn't believe I hit it, but I acted like it was nothing, handed his gun back and started rifling through my gun bag like it happened every day hiding this big grin as they all hooped and hollered...The only bad part was they couldn't go telling alot of folks because it's illigal to shoot Buzzards here.

Especially on a private Police range.

Charlie, down the hill used to come up every couple of weeks to eat, schmooze and wash some clothes. When he didn't show for 4 weeks, we went down to see what was up. There was a BarrenGround Grizzley shadowing his cabin, keeping him in close contact with shelter. We gathered up Charlie and were escorting him up to the top, when I saw the bear go around the far side of the cabin. I stepped to the side of the wash at the back of the cabin and dropped onto an up-ended 50gal drum, rifle at port arms. As I landed, I saw Bear come around the end of the cabin and rear up. I fired one round from the hip before he knocked me off the drum and pinned me to the ground. That shot went under his chin and took out the back of his skull. It took several guys to get the bear off me and then I had to walk up the hill in soiled pants. (And, I don't mean blood and dirt. )

First one that comes to mind is the jackrabbit at 150yds.w/my Ruger MkII Slabside. One shot right behind the eye.A huntin' buddy and I were coming in from the evening hunt when we spotted it.I knew the chances of me hittin' it were somewhere between slim and none, especially since I had just picked the Ruger up that day at a pawn shop and had shot it just enough to decide to pull the scope off. That was the first shot w/open sights.

Can you say Rabbit Stew??

I haven't made too many great shots.. I hit a deer running up a hill about 300 yards away, mustve hit it in the leg, it did a flip and kept running.

the shot I was most proud of was my first deer, was a doe only about 200 yards away in a field behind a junkyard near paboogers house, easy shot actually, rested my gun on a wooden post, shot it, went down. But since it was my first deer, and it went down right away, and was a perfect shot, I was proud of it at the time. It was also good because my brother was also resting his gun on a post right next to me and was about to shoot when he surprised by the sound of the 'ol .270

Also shot paboogers shorts off the clothes line, never could prove it, there were already too many holes in em..
