Default Another newbie with a question...

Hi all,
Okay so i'm new to the whole firearm world. I own a 223 rifle that i've shot maybe a box and a half of shells through. Now i'm interested in getting a handgun. I think mostly for fun, not really for protection (but maybe down the road). A co-worker of mine is offering to sell me his lorcin .380 for $70.
Now this will be the first handgun I've ever owned or even shot. I think I'm might just be interested in getting a 22. But he is telling me that I can put a lower grianed round in it so it doesn't have quite the punch to it.
Any suggestions... would I just be throwing my money away, or would this be a good entry level gun. I've never heard of Lorcin... is it safe? Is it gonna blow up in my hand?
Thanks in advance to any advice or suggestions...
Chris

I would advise against the Lorcin and for a Ruger 22 semi-auto as a first gun. Ammo is cheap and you can shoot a lot of it.

Not in my opinion safe or worth $70. Some may disagree with me.
Ruger or Browning are well worth the money and will last a life time if taken care of.

The Lorcin may last a lifetime if you are over 75 years old.

Lorcin pistols are cheap made and won't last long is you spend very much time at the range. I'd suggest a Ruger MkII .22 cal auto. Accurate, reliable, and ammo is very inexpensive.

I would go with the Ruger also, the Lorcin is cheap made will not hold up to a lot of use.just my 5 cents worths, inflation.

Arrow re: 1st hand gun

Unless you just have your heart set on an automatic, I would strongly urge you to consider a revolver as a first handgun.

The Ruger Super Single Six is an excellent choice.

A single action handgun is the best for learning handgun marksmanship.
