Default new america?

Is this the new america? Permanent recession, permanent low interest rates, high and higher gasoline prices, spiraling inflation, human rights under attack, foreign products, gun rights under attack, government controls on almost everything, forced taxes, free speech under attack, and who know what else on the horizon? How did we get into such a shape? Everytime something happens in the world, America has to go 'take care of the situation' and almost monthly, it seems like, we have a new 'crisis' to deal with. It seems like most people want the government to take care of the problems and when they do, then the people complain the government is interfering in our lives and now some states are talking about secession from the union. What in blazes is going on? If all the above mentioned is the new permanent situation, we are in a world of trouble. Our young generation ain't got a chance at any permanent full-time jobs or retirements or for that matter even a decent paying job. Is minimum wage our new 'top pay limit"? Has America reached the end of it's time? What's next?

I know people, gn, that truly believe this is a fact; not sarcasm or jabbing, but actually BELIEVE BO is the fulfillment of prophecy in Revelation.

I am not in that camp.
I believe he will be voted out of office, and be nothing more than a very distasteful memory in a few more years.

I truly HOPE I am right.

In 2010 we hamstring him and in 2012 boot his butt out.

topper:

Your scenerio is wrong in that we do not have spiraling inflation. Social Security and Fed Retiree raises this year based on inflation 0%. Increase in health insurance co-pay $50 a month (20%) in LTC Insurance (that was never supposed to change) $75 a month (30%). This is all thanks to Clinton who changed the CPI to more accurately reflect costs, right.

If inflation does increase then the Fed will run up interest rates. Remember 1980 when the long bond was trading at 11-13% (Jimmy Carter years)?

I'm not in that camp either and I also hope you are right!

I think "distasteful memory" is being too nice, though.

By 2012 it may be too late, and too hard, to undo what he will be doing in these 4 years. In 4 years you can do a lot of damage. Somehow we have to let them know to stop thier "pelosi" (that's short for bullsh**) right now.

Well, we face much worse than that.

'Wishful Thinking' and delusions propel much of society

I heard on TV someone said; "we can look forward to a better decade to come as nothing could be as bad as the last decade."

What guarantee is there that we have seen the worst?

Things can get infinity worse than 2000 to 2009.

Here is a list of threats facing humans from SRT. One person on another forum made a joke about some of the threats. My job is not to censure this list, but I just put it out as one compilation of things one might prepare for. You decide what may apply to you.

...but bear in mind what my survival mentor says: "to prepare for the unthinkable one must first think the unthinkable."

We got other problems right in line with peak fish and food We got peak water, peak uranium, peak crude oil and peak NG to name a few.

Have you ever thought about how much of our life is dependent on natural gas for cooking, heating and hot water?

How many of our homes are set up for efficient heating with natural methods such as wood, pellet, passive solar?

My house is not.

I never gave this subject any thought until I learned about peak natural gas. And by then it was too late.

My house is as far as it can be from the 'ideal house' that can be heated my natural methods. And to make maters worse, I live in the NE US, where it gets plenty cold.

Do you know that much of your life is dependent on natural gas outside its use as an energy source?

We will run out of natural gas, just as we deplete our crude supplies.

http://www.amazon.com/High-Noon-Natu.../dp/1931498539

Natural gas is a raw material in many of our products we depend on.

Almost all the helium we produce comes from natural gas.

Propane, synthetic fertilizers, ammonia?

They are totally dependent on natural gas.

Our population boom was fueled by synthetic fertilizers made from natural; gas. Once the gas dries up so does the fertilizer and a shortage of fertilizer equals a shortage of food.

Natural; gas is also used as an energy source to produce steel, glass, paper, clothing, brick, electricity

http://www.eia.doe.gov/kids/energyfa...HATITISUSEDFOR

You still have some valuable time left to prepare for what awaits you down the road.

We are in the 'Indian Summer' of a carbon based world. Don't wait until the winter sets in to start work on your preparedness efforts.
