Default Guns vs. Doctors

I picked this up on another site. Kind of interesting.
The approximate number of legal gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
The number of accidental gun deaths each year for all ages is 1500.
That's about .000188 deaths per gun owner.
The number of doctors in the U.S. is around 700,000.
Accidental deaths each year caused by doctors mistakes is 120,000.
That's 0.171 deaths per doctor.
Remember, guns don't kill people, doctors do.

That is great. Great stats. And doctors are to do no harm - hmmm. Doctors should be outlawed.

Seems a little high. What was the source? Not the website, but the source. I would be curious to see if anything was done to the numbers.

It was on The Firing Line or something like that. I was just browsing and saw it. It could be completely made up as far as I'm concerned. I put it on here for entertainment purposes only.

I've read and heard on TV that over 100,000 people die unnecessarily each year in hospitals. No source, just what I've read and hears. I believe that one. Personal anecdote: I was in the hospital exactly one year ago. My kidneys and heart were failing, the doc wanted my wife to "gather friends and family." I am lying there near death, delirious with pain. The nurses keep saying, we can't give you anything because your BP's too low. I ask, how low is it. 70 over 53, they say. Jeez, I 'm thinking that long black cloud's coming down. Nothing happens for a while, so I ask again. Still no, we can't. Finally another nurse comes in and says the BP machine hasn't been calibrated for TWO YEARS!! She takes my BP the old fashioned, pump it up and read the scale. 117 over 75. Pain medicine on the way. How does this tie in with the post? They're lucky I didn't have a gun. TJ

My doctor has as many guns as I do. The last time I was in his office he broke out a carbine that looked like it just came from the factory and it wasn't refinished. He's been after one of my pistols for a while now, but I keep all my guns. I have the first one I ever got as a kid. It's an old bolt action Mossberg 16 Ga. shotgun with an adjustable choke and a magazine.

The doctors around here are avid gun enthusiasts... and not just Glocks and 1911s either.... high end AR15s like the LWRC and such...

I repaired a Colt N.M. 1911 on my doctors office desk. I guess you could call it a house call.

Come to think of it my cousin had two friends that were doctors. One was a foot specialist and i don't know what the other specialized in. They were both pro gun and loved to go deer hunting.

If Doctors are overwhelmingly pro gun and pro hunting... what the heck are these dumb democrat politicians talking about when they claim that guns are only good for killing? Doctors take an oath to do no harm...so if they do not see a problem with gun ownership...why should anyone else??

Ya know if you look at what a liberal says and examine it not only on its face but from multiple other directions as well.... you see their statements for what they are... pure idiocy.

We have doctors that are pro gun.... we have lawyers that are pro gun...and contrary to what the media tells us, most cops are in favor of civilian gun ownership. Who do these twits in the democratic party that have never worked a real job or signed a paycheck in their life...who do they think they are?

It a case of the squeaky wheel getting the grease, to an extent. The pro gun folks are quiet hard working people.
By contrast the anti-gun jerks tend to be loud mouthed busybodies who want to control every aspect of your life.
The press themselves, being joined at the hip with the libs, add to the squeak of the wheel.
