video here http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/03/29...eading-bible/#
“Good morning, everyone,” he says to a group of 15 onlookers waiting outside the Hemet California Division of Motor Vehicles. “I would like to read a little bit of the word of God this morning.” The video, shot in February of last year, ends with Mackey’s arrest. “You can preach on your own property,” an officer from the California Highway Patrol tells Mackey as he leads him away in handcuffs. “Folks, this is what the United States is coming to,” Mackey says to the crowd, who were standing outside waiting for the DMV to open. “You can talk about anything you want, but you can’t talk about the Bible.” Mackey is a reverend with Calvary Chapel Hemet, a conservative Christian church that practices an “evangelical ministry,” requiring public testimonials and Scripture readings. Church officials believe Mackey was arrested because of “Christian bigotry.” The officer who made the arrest disagrees, claiming he arrested Mackey for preaching to a public audience who had no choice but to listen. “You’re not allowed to preach here," he told Mackey, “because this is a captive audience.” Mackey’s lawyer calls that “ridiculous.” “That doesn’t make sense in America,” says Robert Tyler of Advocates for Faith and Freedom, a non-profit law firm which defends Christian Liberties. “If the doctrine of the captive audience is going to apply broad brush, no one is going to be allowed to [preach in] a public park…that’s not America.” Tyler also points out Mackey was cited for “impeding an open business,” but he points out the DMV wasn’t even open at the time. “The DMV was closed,” he said. “They had no business arresting him.” Not so, observes constitutional attorney Dan Conaway, saying those waiting for the DMV doors to open have no choice but to listen to Mackey. “He's creating an intimidating situation for people who simply want to get their drivers licenses renewed,” says Conaway, who says it’s OK to preach in public, but not when your listeners can’t leave. “He does not have the right to intimidate others and force them to listen and impede their ability to do normal business activities such as going to the DMV.” Tyler points out that the “captive audience” statute requires more than simple intimidation. “Mackey had to be threatening them. Is reading the Bible threatening?” Tyler says that, in the end, Mackey has simply been charged with trespassing. How can that be trespassing?” Tyler asks. “This is a public place. He was not blocking or impeding anyone. He was standing over 50 feet from the entrance. This is crazy.” Mackey sees it in biblical terms. “The devil is holding everyone captive to do his will," he said as he was led away. “Repent, and trust in Jesus Christ. Judgment Day is coming, folks.” Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/03/29...#ixzz1qg4Bz3bA Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. i guess the minister here got a heap of Blessings , and i reckon we all will before this is done get set folks hard times for believers ahead

This reminds me of an incident I once witnessed. I was in a Whataburger and there was guy in there who was standing in the order area "preaching". More correctly, he was rambling. Sadly, it appeared to me he was not in his right mind. To me it was clear this guy was a mental patient, but as I listened to his words I noticed that he was absolutely right on the mark when it came to quoting the Bible.
I noticed the employees and other customers were concerned, not knowing what this guy might do. The manager showed up and was talking to the guy when the cops got there. I have to hand it to Houston PD. They were very kind to the guy talked him into leaving, and did not arrest him.

Just more evidence of the police state that we live in. I noticed that he, Mackey, was eventually charged with trespassing! On public property? Truth is that none of the charges were valid, but they were not going to let that stop them, so they just made up a charge. If I were Mackey I would sue them so hard that they would be afraid to charge any one with any thing for a long time!

Plan B. I used to read to our kids whenever we had a boring wait. We were in a cafateria line one day; I pulled the book we were reading out of my pocket, started reading to keep the kids occupied and quiet while waiting in line. I looked up, and noticed everyone within earshot was listening in. A little embarrasing, but as they say over here, in for a penny in for a pound, I kept reading until we got to the food. People didn't seem to mind.
What about instead of preaching to the crowd, just start reading out loud to someone with you? Could be a sermon, or Scripture... Just an idea... |

That sure shows you how carried away the govt. can get. The majority gets muzzled and chained and the minority get the special treatment. It's wrong, so wrong.

It is threatening to those who believe the world owes them a living. It is threatening to those who do not want to deal with a righteous God. It is threatening to those who are practice sex outside of marriage. It is threatening to those who destroy their bodies with drugs. It is threatening to those who lie. It is threatening to those who cheat. It is threatening to those who steal. It is threatening to those who have chosen to follow false gods. Yes indeed, the Bible is VERY threatening. In fact, there is only one thing more threatening than learning what is in the Bible - - - NOT learning what is in the Bible!

actually its a joint ridicule thing , i've gone along to some of the leftist meeetings and the leaders really whip them up against Christians , saying how we'll take away their right to abortion , to welfare as we are greedy and dont want to pay for them ( but are already supporting 20% of the population ) that we wont allow them gay marriage and all the rest of the depraved things the leadership is promising ..
so its no wonder they hit the streets with a vengence .... this is orchestrated from the top , and sent all the way down to the usefull idiots as stalin called them , but remember what happened to those same useful idiots when the golden age of communism hit and it wasn't as they dreamed and they complained ?? they invented the gulag and the useful idiots where locked away until most where dead as those willing to protest would be willing to counter protest and become counter revolutionaries .. so they where liquidated ... thats socialism folks and the idiots who are supporting that have forgotten that what these types are like .. |

Sorry folks!!!.....I have my own personal religious beliefs and find a religious nut bellowing his personal beliefs in my face to be an infringement of my rights........Passing out literature or politely asking individuals if they would like to engage in a person to person (private) religious dialog would be more acceptable..........
What if this individual was spouting quotes from the qurran???.....I bet many of you would get upset just as I would. |

Dan, yes but those spouting from the qoran are allowed too
theres 19 youtube channels of islamic street preachers who preach every day , one on the steps of a public library , obne specialises in converting pre teens to islam , because its cool to be muslim as you dont have to obey the wests laws , and thats the poster he has behind himself while he preaches ( demoine somewhere) but if a Christian does this he's bundled off cant do that to the muslim as that would be racist.. when muslims are about, Christians suffer Dan |

Jack, what you say is true, but I have my personal allowance of what I will tolerate in a public setting from which I might not be able to walk away from......In this case I speak only as to how I feel........
Rest assured that I abhor Islam and those that practice it......In the Muslim controlled parts of the world they would imprison or kill a Christian for loudly preaching Christian beliefs in public. |
