Default Marlin 39A

I am looking at a Marlin 39A, but it has no markings on the barrel other than 39A and caliber. I cannot find a serial # on the barrel. It has a white diamond on both sides of the butt and 1 on the forehand grip. Would like to know what it is worth and where I might find the serial #.

They are very desirable and bring a little more than the regular Model 39s. Here's the Blue Book values:

MODEL 39A "MOUNTIE"
- straight grip stock, slim forearm, otherwise similar to 39A. Mfg. 1953-1957.
Grading 100% 98% 95% 90% 80% 70% 60%
$450 $400 $350 $300 $250 $200 $175

Model 39A "MOUNTIE" with K prefix
- 24 in. barrel and slender forearm. 4,335 mfg. 1953 only.
Grading 100% 98% 95% 90% 80% 70% 60%
$750 $650 $550 $475 $425 $350 $300

Thank you for the information. I would call this gun a least 95%, owner wants $275. Think it has found a new home.
