Default Your favorite prayer

Mine is the Apostles Creed. I was raise a Catholic but have to admit i have strayed from that church. It is kinda hard to support them when so many priest, well you know. And once the fines have toppled over a billion dollars what can you say, it is hard to support them.

Anyway the Apostles Creed pretty much sums it up for me. The line i dont like is the one "I belive in the holy Catholic Church". Maybe it's just me and I should overlook man's weekness, i dont know. Struggling with it.

Lord , Here we are again ,
Before You , we ask You hear our Plea
Lord, I ask for courage.
Courage to face and Conquer my own fears...
Courage to take me where Others will not go.
I ask for strength...
Strength of body to protect others...
Strength of spirit to lead others.
I ask for dedication...
Dedication to my job, to do it well...
Dedication to my country, To keep it safe.
Give me, Lord, concern...
For those who trust me And compassion for those Who need me,

and Please Lord... Through it all be at my side.

we ask this in Jesus's Name

Cycloneman , rewrite it

make it yours .. God's good that way

formal prayers are nice , they are known and give comfort..

but those from your own heart are, what i read anyway , the one He likes the best

so as a basis rewrite it to suit you , but do so for Him and you ..

as long as its fair dinkum , and straight up .. He'll hear ya loud and clear

descendit ad ínferos, tertia die resurrexit a mortuis,
ascendit ad caelos, sedet ad dexteram Patris omnipotentis,
inde venturus est iudicare vivos et mortuos.
Credo in Spiritum Sanctum,
sanctorum communionem,
remissionem peccatorum,
carnis resurrectionem,
vitam aeternam.
Amen.

I have two that I pray. Mind you, my father was Catholic but I was raised as a Protestant - The Lord's Prayer and Hail Mary. These give me the greatest comfort. There is no man who can convince me that when I pray these that the Lord doesn't hear me. No majic key - just that I feel it almost physically in my heart.

Jack, I am with you. If a person prays from their heart, the Lord will hear them. Don't matter what church or building you go to, or if its in your own home or under the stars by a camp fire. Don't think the Lord cares much if you are a Jew or a Christian, Protestant or Catholic. My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was a Jew. He even taught in Jewish Synagaugs and was often called Rabbi. Don't figure there were any Christian churches around until well after he was crucified. I figure it's only important what is in your heart, and how you treat his other creations.

if He only hears upright folks how does He hear the lowest as The Book says ? cause He hears all honest calls , from hindu's who realise whats up , From Muslims looking for The Way out , from the baddest sinner,

if they are legit , He Hears

of that i am convinced ...

I don't have a favorite prayer, because each one is different.

Except one -

When I get up in the morning and let Korban (my dog) out of his crate, he races to the door to go out and do his business. I let him out, and go out myself onto the concrete landing at the bottom of the steps. As I stand there waiting for him, I look up at the star filled sky, or the moonlight green hills around me, or the moonlight on the snow, or feeling the gentle rain on my face, or feeling the rumble of the thunder.
Each time, the same words escape my lips.
I raise both arms toward heaven and say:
"Thank you, Lord, for another day!"

we ask this in Jesus's Name
Been years since I have heard this one, at least one very simular to it. a special forces team I had the pleasure of knowing, had a chaplin in their team. He said a prayer before the team went on any mission. he once was in hospital and team came to his room, closed the dorr, just so they could have him say the prayer before they went on another mission. altho the last line said ..."Please Father and Son, if our deeds find favor in your eyes, Place your hand over each of us to deny death from our souls. We ask in the name of the Father, The Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit."

during the time this chaplin was with the team and this prayer was said, no one of the team died...wounded yes..the chaplin was injured and retired from service for his wounds he recieved on the last mission. the team lost 2 members in the following year. and another 3 the next.

all I can say is this is the Power of Prayer and Faith it would be answered!

it was a pre mission prayer here too , before getting on the herc's or whatever we'd group and pray this

same before missions if based overseas..

i beleive it helped though our casualties where a bit high at times..

but we lost more in training than combat in my time ..
