I have a Ruger Police Service Six, stainless, 2" snubnose, squarebutt, in .357mag. The serial number is 152-86XXX and I was wondering if anyone knows the year it was manufactured. I think I read somewhere there is a difference in the grips between some of these guns, any info on that? Is it possible to modify it for adjustable sights? It's heavy and built like a tank, so it's not a CCW, just a nightstand one. Thanks.

That's a great revolver you've got there. Don't try to modify it for adjustable sights. Ruger made a similar gun - the Security Six - with adjustable sights. If you want adjustable sights, sell your Service Six and get a Security Six.

Really well made, strong gun. I carried one for several years when I was in LE. You've got a good, solid gun there.
