Anyone else ever scope a revolver? I did - mostly for accuracy testing. Some of my 629 44 Mag groups for 6 shots @ 25yards are in the attachment. I like six shot groups for revolvers. Shooting from a solid benchrest the accuracy can be impressive. I now have a 4X Leupold in place of the 2X Leupold in the picture - going to try to shoot a 1" or better 50 yard group with 4X!

I may add a scope to mine, just have not had the time to do all the work.

Put one of the red dot sights on it. This is a purely awesome arm for the vaporization of armadiddles. It don't group as pretty as yours does, Bullseye, but it will make buzzard bait out to 90 or 100 long paces. I have a little niece that can make it work fifty steps beyond that.

Very nice Bullseye!!
I have a Super Redhawk w/Leopold 2x and a SW686 w/Tasco Red Dot. Both fun to shoot, but the 686 is awesome for quick target acqusition. Setup the Redhawk for deer hunting, but haven't taken a deer with it yet. |

Thanks for the compliments! Yeah , those Redhawks/Super Redhawks are shooters too! Had one of the early production Super Redhawks 7.5" and it shot very well off hand. Never scope revolvers back then - eyesight was also better! Would have been interesting to see what it could have done scoped.
If I get around to shooting the 44 @ 50 yards and get a group worthy of posting I'll share it. |

Only this "Pup"...for "Sheets-N-Geegles" only...I am going to have to scope my pistols, if I'm ever going to hold any kind of decent group!...

How is your eye relief moving up to the 4x scope? Do you get the wiggles when hunting or shooting offhand? How fast is the target acquisition compared to a 2x?
I have a .44 mag redhawk with a 2x Nikon that I figure is ideal. I can put together a 3" group at 100 yds shooting from a rest. I dont think that I would take it any further than that. I shoot 300 gr cast bullets. swede |

"How is your eye relief moving up to the 4x scope?
I now have the 4X Leupold EER on the 44 mag. The optimum eye relief on the Leupold 4X is listed exactly the same as the Leupold 2X (12-24 inches) - one of the reasons I wanted a Leupold 4X EER. I think this feature is unique to Leupold. "Do you get the wiggles when hunting or shooting offhand?" I have never hunted with a handgun but have past experience shooting scoped handguns - mostly TC Contenders - in metallic silhouette. We used to shoot up to 100 meters in NRA silhouette. So , the 4X really does not "appear" to move too much to make shooting difficult. In fact in metallic silhouette 4X was considered very low power. "How fast is the target acquisition compared to a 2x?" If there is one drawback to the Leupold 4X EER it is field of view (9 feet @ 100 yds) - very narrow compared to the Leupold 2X EER (21.2 feet @ 100 yds) - so I would suspect that target aquisition would be much , much slower to accomplish. |

I had a 4x on the Redhawk at first. Unfortunately, when out hunting, fast aquisition was impossible. That is why I switched back to the 2x. Now there is no problem.

Thanks bullseye for the info...Leupolds are out my league but I do want to try a 4x sometime. Maybe next time I am at Cabelas I will have them slap one on one of their fake pistols just to try it out.

Love the .41mag Ruger Redhawk I have. It is scoped with a Swift 2x.
I just put your 829 picture on my desktop. Very nice! ![]()
