We had some friends of ours come over from the coast and we all went out to see Trace Atkins last night. I'm a huge country fan. Of all the concerts I've been to, this has got to be the best. It was just a small venue and he was freakin AWESOME.
Saw Thompson Square last month. Bill Engval will be here in Nov. Gonna hit that too Anyone else hitting any good concerts anytime soon.

Heard the lyrics to a country song this weekend - don't know who sung it:
"I went to bed at 2 with a 10 and woke up at 10 with a 2" Only in a C&W song could you get lyrics like that!

Just bought some tickets for a Bob Dylan concert. He's playing the same place those grannies are I think.
Actually it's in Indianapolis not far from the Speedway. I used to live in Indy. I'm glad I don't still live there. ![]() |

Went to all kinds of shows before moving to Alaska. Do they still have Jamboree in the Hills in W.V. pretty good country music and drinkin for 4-5 days.
Here in rural Alaska, it consists of s good Indian fiddler coming in. All the furniture gets moved to the corners & corn meal down on hard floor; ever hear of Red River Jig? Always a good time with the ole Indians. |

I've been to one concert in my life, about 15 years ago - Reba McIntyre.

When I was young! I've done a few thru the years. The last two was Hank Jr. who was so drunk he couldn't remember the words to the songs, and then there was No Show Jones. About '81 I had a really bad experience with crowds. Haven't been in a crowd since.

Trace Adkins had part of his pinkie cut off and when they told him he'd lose being able to bend it, he had them reattach it at an angle so he'd still be able to use it to play the guitar.
Now that's dedication to your music. |

I saw Steppenwolf too. One of the best I've ever seen. Those guys invented modern rock IMO. I've also seen Pink Floyd, The Who. Yes, ZZ Top, Harry Chapin, James Taylor, Wilson Pickett, Willie Nelson, The Outlaws, Blue Oyster Cult, Nugent, REO, and about 150 others. I saw some of these groups 5-6 times. But the best group I ever saw by a huge margin was Jethro Tull. I saw them twice and both times it was incredible. Back in the late 70's / early 80's I saw probably 12 concerts a year. Heart, Nazareth, The Eagles, Alex Harvey, and so many I can't possibly remember them all to be honest. I saw Jackson Browne a few months ago. I still go when someone good comes around. I've seen the Doobie Brothers, Grand Funk and Goose Creek in recent years.
I also was a sound man soundguy. I worked with a bluegrass band called Kentucky Blue but it's not the Kentucky Blue you might have heard on the radio. They stole the name from us. The original was a better band by far too. They were a big hit locally and had a chance to go national but didn't. I know a guy that plays in a bluegrass band that travels all over the world to play. They love bluegrass in Japan. Go figure. BTW yes they do still have Jamborees in WV. They just call them Bluegrass Festivals now. There are lots and lots of them. I've seen some that are still called Jamborees though. They are usually on a smaller scale than the festivals. Last edited by CJ_56; 06-27-2012 at 08:13 AM.. |

My wife got some good pics of him, and you can see his bent up pinkie. We thought maybe he broke it at some point. Didn't realize it had been cut off. Wow

Concerts are too expensive now. My parents used to go to them every weekend back in the late 70s when it was like $8 for a concert.
