My wife was gone today and I had to hang around the house so I took my 1858 Remington(Replica) out on back deck and burned some black powder.
It still amazes me how powerful and accurate those old time handguns are.. I had tied up some old newspapers into bundles about a foot thick and was using them for a backstop(not that I needed one. there was nothing back there for three miles). With a round nose pure lead bullet and 30 grs of ffg the bullets deformed into unrecognizeable blobs of lead. Recoil was about like a mild .357 load. At fifteen yards if tore the center out of a 2 1/4 inch bullseye. A fellow( LEO) hunting on the adjoining land came up and he shot a group that was about 3 inches. That was his first time shooting a cap and ball revolver. We had a ball

Sounds like fun! Sometimes the 2.5 mi. drive to the range is such a bother. Would be great to just out to the back yard.
