I realize how obvious my lack of knowledge is..but ANY INFO WILL HELP!
I have a rifle I am having trouble identifying.. Printed on the top of the barrel- manufactured by The Remington Arms Co (somewhere in NY. USA) next line reads- BROWNING'S PATENTS EST OCT 8, 1800 OCT16, 1800 JULY 8,180? dates are hard to read just past the end of the barrel I can read 35 REM (or35?) I guess it's a "slide action" It's heavy-around 10 lbs....21" barrel

i would suspect it is a remington model 8 self loading rifle.
it would be a remington rifle, made using browning patents |

Don't see what Browning would have to do with that model 14. That was designed by John D. Pederson.
With the weight comment, I also suspect the model 8. Heavy sucker.

Reminton Model 8. Depending on what part of the country, in places common.
Back east and the midwest. Once used by LEOs and Correctional places as well as hunting. Out west and places not forested they are not as common. Other than the weight, nice little handy rifles with low recoil. The LEO ones some had large capacity magazines |
