Please keep me and my family in your prayers. I just received notice that my unemployment has ended, after only 6 months of ever receiving it. Still no job offers. God has a plan, and it is a good one. Sorry if this is in the wrong place. John

John posted this in the devotional thread. I was concerned that some folks who just don't care for daily devotionals might miss it because they do not read that thread, so I moved it out here where it is more visible.

Heavenly Father -
I come before you this morning with a request. John is looking for work, and has not been able to find any. His unemployment has run out, and he needs an income to support his family. Lord, the Bible tells us that you own the cattle of a thousand hills. I ask that you would be merciful to John, and cut a couple out of the herd for his use in the short term. And I ask that you would open a door for him into a place where he can find a career that will meet his family's needs for the long term. Bless him with this, Lord - And I ask these things in the name of Jesus the Christ, the Alpha and the Omega. Amen -

He can open doors that no man can shut. It may be in a place you least expect it. Prepare for it.

We are in a position of trusting God to a level we have never experienced. Is it easy? No. Is it doable? we have to. If you don't pass the test, you will retake it. This is hard. We will get through it. We are certain that Father God knows what is going on. He is with us, and for us. As things develop, I will be on to let y'all know.

Trust me IE. You don't know me, but it will get better.
Many years ago my life crashed around me. I lost my Dad, my marriage, and my job within 3 months. I don't have my Dad or my marriage today, but I DO have my son. It's tough trying to understand when this stuff happens. Make the best of it and rest assured that yer in good hands. ![]()

Prayers for you from over here, Iron Eagle. I agree with what Terry prayed and will be praying that God would take care of you as He takes care of the flowers and the birds in Matthew 6.

hang in there, I got laid off in march of 2010 and haven't found full time work yet. the lord has blessed us with part time and temporary jobs, but unemployement ran out long ago. It sounds corny, but I trust in God and put him first every day and he provides. some days i do his work and some days I do paying jobs, but it all works out.

Thanks again. You can never know if you are really trusting Him until it falls apart. The proof is in the pudding. Yes, we believe that things will get better. This is indicative of the fact that this world does not know or recognize that Jesus is Lord. If it did, things would be radically different.
We appreciate the prayers and kind words. This is not the first time we have been down to nothing. God was with us after hurricane Andrew trashed south Florida. We were in Homestead where it came ashore. He provided a way to get out of there. He is working on our behalf, of this we are sure, just like He is for all of you. Be blessed. John |

Hang in there John. Keep trusting in the Lord, and as DD said, be perpared for what God has in store for you. Prayers sent.

I'm sure you've explored this already, but have you checked out training for other vocations/skills?
Please keep us posted. Continuing to pray. |

There are approximately four folks applying for every one job opening. As of last month, all long term unemployment assistance ended. If you keep up with the news, you already know employers are not hiring folks who have been out of work for an extended period.
You're going to need a great deal of perseverance and luck going for you. Get in an employers face, when they say they are not hiring, or we'll call you, don't accept that. Go back every week, week after week, and let them know you are serious. Always look positive no matter how your feeling inside. Smile, and say I'll see you later. When they tell you there's really no need to come back, go back anyway. A lot of folks apply just to prove they have looked, just so their unemployment checks continue. More folks apply intending to work for three months, quit, and start drawing checks again. Having a position filled today, doesn't mean they won't need somebody tomorrow. Good luck.

Hey, Iron Eagle I've been fired a few times myself. It happened so much, it seemed like just another transfer, most times I found a better job with more pay. I could never figure out how people stayed at their first job for 30 or 40 years but I was jealous of them. I think there are a lot of politics in the workplace. I was never able to get inside that circle. I saw this video and I thought about you, check it out, I've been there a few times.
