Default Anyone familiar with parts for horse drawn plows?

My father left behind four or five horse drawn plows. I've rebuilt three of them but the other two require the wooden center beam....item B in the schematic below.

I've been looking far and wide for someone that reproduces these parts. I've exhausted all the local wood mills without luck. The beam is a little more complicated than it looks..... it has compound curves and angles on all sides.

Any ideas?

Most of those were hand carved or cut to a jig and hand finished. As Katoho says, get a good draw knife, some oak stock and have at it.

because each side of the beam wraps around the spaces you most likely will have to bend it wet to keep it from slitting i would think,

Try looking here. It is a large hardware store in the heart of Ohio Amish land.

They carry just about everything.

I think I've got one, not a repro but original.
Sorry, not for sale.
I'll ask around though, some of the "old timers" around here still plow with mules just because they like to.

Look up antique tractor magazines. Some of them will occasionally run articles or ads about the horse-drawn equipment. They will at least help steer you into the right direction. Antique Power is a good one.

Hey guys .... a quick update.
I contacted Farmer Brown's Plow store once again and got good news. Jim Brown is now set up to make the beams and will make a couple for me.

This will complete the six that Dad left. Just looking at them makes me smile.

Thanks all.

Work in progress. I'll be using new hardware because I'm not fanatical about exact reproduction .... not to mention the "old" replacement hardware costs ten times what the new stuff does.
