I picked this up the other day when purchasing an AK from a guy. Need some help identifying this thing. The metal is all iron (no brass) and has very few identifiable markings on it. The markings are as follows:
I've looked and looked around the internet I've found nothing like this so thought i'd "Ask the Pros". Any idea who made this? When? Value? Thanks in advance

The pistol is the very common Austrian M 1862 in bad condition, worth about $350.
The above copied from reply to my question by foremost world authority on European handguns. His estimate of value would be retail price. |

Thanks for helping me ID this thing. I've done a bit more poking around this morning and most of what I've found are rifles. Not yet found a pistol that looks like this one.
Where would be the best place to try and sell this? |

To sell, look for dealers in old guns in your area. If Yellow Pages yield nothing, might try phone calls to other gun dealers and state your case. You can always put it up for auction on Internet. There are no Federal or Postal regulations against selling a pistol as old as this. Your gun dealers can tell you if there are regulations affecting local sale.
You could also do a google search for 'antique gun dealers' or similar words, and contact some of them. You will probably get offers of $200, more or less. One such dealer is collectorsfirearms.com |
