I am interested in developing a load with 200 gr. bullets to duplicate the original Brittish .380/200 load. Do any of us know of a source of 200 gr. lead bullets in .358-.360 dia.? Also any data that might be offered would be appriciated. Thanks Omega Xracer Senior Chief Moderator Staff Posts: 1535 (1/25/02 9:37:35 am) Reply | Edit | Del Re: 380/200 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know of any source for .38/200 bullets.....you might have to cast your own. That round was a slow moving one......630 fps with a muzzle energy of 176 ft./lb. for the military load. Assuming you can find the bullets, I'd start with 2.5-3 gr. of Bullseye. a81492 Member Posts: 2 (2/26/02 1:59:26 pm) Reply | Edit | Del Re: 380/200 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sounds like an interesting project. Believe that this caliber normally used a heel-based (2 diameters, stepped) configuration bullet.......... next to extinct supply. Might possibly find a custom caster to tackle the task. Have heard of others using hollow-based WC's (sized .358 w/ moderate load of a fast burner propellant) getting adequate results in these old timers. FWIW. Good luck w/that critter best, joey Hangfire Member Posts: 17 (2/26/02 5:21:42 pm) Reply | Edit | Del Re: 380/200 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm pretty sure I have an old carton of 200gr. .358 swc. I'll check when I get home tonight. They came from Colorado Cast Bullet out of Montrose, CO. 303-249-4227 Bonus Bullets in Canon City, CO has 200gr FP sized 358 bonusbullets.com Good luck SW Man Member Posts: 30 (3/4/02 6:52:45 pm) Reply | Edit | Del Re: 380/200 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First, it is a 38/200 NOT a 380/200. I have quite a few of these including some of the actual british guns. I have been looking for a source for a .360 bullet in a 200gn configuration for it that would work as I like to restore ammunition to factory specs. At this point in time I am having a custom made mold made that is in the original configuration. Seems to be the only way to get the bullet. I found some.357 200gn bullets, but they were designed for using in a rifle in 38 or 357 caliber and were too long for the 38S&W. The second admendment GUARANTEES the Constitution and the other nine.
