There is a wealth of info about the 58 on the web with either a search of that model or Winchester Boys Rifle. The patent dates don`t have anything to do with production dates.Several different models were produced under those patents.
These little rifles are ever popular and take us back to a day when a boy could carry one down the street on the way to his favorite squirrel woods or rabbit thicket and no one raised an eyebrow.Everyone knew he was just on the way to get something for dinner. Great fun to shoot. I have a Model 1902 with gumwood stock ,very similar to the 58. It still takes a squirrel now and then if the light is good enough for old eyes. Joe |
