Santa brought the wife a new Ruger P95. I figured this would be a good time to pick up a new pistol. I've always wanted a Kimber so when I saw the Compact Stainless in the case I laid down almost 3 times the amount of the Ruger. At the range the Ruger is going through magazine after magazine without a hitch where I'm having FTRBs and slide locking at the rear with rounds left in mag. I ran 400 rounds thru it without improvement. I noticed when cleaning that there was a trace of copper on the inside of the slide release. I installed a Wolff Improved XP Recoil Spring and removed about .020" of material where the copper was. 100 rounds fired today and not a hiccup.
I read of others having 0 troubles while others plagued with function problems. A 4 figured pistol should have this stuff eliminated.

The point was the RUGER worked perfect and the three times more expensive KIMBER missed an inspection at the factory and was having problems that Brass Tacks fixed himself.

Colt IS overpriced, and they have that stupid Series 80 "safety" that is not only unnecessary, but can cause failures to fire. Kimber, too, is seriously overpriced. Its too bad that on top of the sky high price, paying that much does NOT guarantee that the thing will run like it is supposed to.

Kimber has been getting a bad rep lately, Colt has had one for some time. My RIA hasn't missed a beat yet. She might not be the prettiest girl at the dance but she'll rock your world all night long.

I've had my OM Colt abt. 25 years the safety has never been a problem just make sure it's assembled right & don't adjust the trigger over travel stop to tight if it has an after market trigger. People trying to lighten the pull causes most of the trouble
