I agree on a Ruger MKII or a Single-Six.
I still have a MKII that operates flawlessly but was talked out of my Single-Six and Super Single-Six by a friend. There will be another Single-Six or Single-Ten in my near future as I can shoot any kind of .22 ammo from BB caps and shotshells to various .22 LR loads and weights. Sometimes around the barn you want to keep the noise down or nosy neighbors might turn you in for dispatching a rat or snake. Trouble with automatics is they only shoot .22 LR. |

i find it absolutely odd that not one person on this forum mentioned anything about hi standards. hands down the best pistol ever made and no one mentions it.

"Since no one here has mentioned the SP101 rimfire except one reference to it's small grip (which is true...it is a compact revolver after all)."-Bindernut
Trausch makes a grip for the SP101 that is perfect...... especially designed for the recoil in a .357 for women..... the grip has a feel unlike any other [I will try to post a pic soon] Trausch.com

ozo, and that means......?
btw...check your pms. the forum seems to be a little bias, dont ya think? afterall, 'best' was the key word. just because everyone has a ruger, doesnt mean its the 'best.' its just popular. Last edited by bobski; 06-21-2012 at 06:29 PM.. |

I took "Long Term Use" to mean if I had one gun and no access to parts which would I depend on for years of service and reasonable accuracy.

I'd love to add a Browning Buckmark to my .22 group. An old Colt Woodsman too.

For what it is worth, I have fired virtually every semi-auto .22. Usually someone else's at the range. I currently have possession of my father's Ruger MkI that he purchased in 1956. Obviously it is over 60 yrs old. A rough estimate would be over 1,000,000 rounds. It has never failed to feed, fire, extract or eject. It is still capable of shooting better than I am capable of holding. Like others, long term means the ability to function with few or no problems every time you pick it up. Until this gun completely fails to function I will probably never buy another.
The Colts, the High Standards and all the others or fanastic firearms but I will stick to and swear by my 60 yr old Ruger. |

I bought a Ruger 2245 MKIII just a few weeks ago. It's very accurate and at 250.00 new it will be all I'll ever need for small game & plinking. Ruger really knows how to make a reliable & accurate 22 pistol, my older brother has his and its over 30yrs old never an issue! With that being said when it came time to buy a 22 pistol for me their was no other choice.

I agree with the Ruger Mark II, Single Six, and the Browning Buckmark. All great 22lr firearms that will last a very long time.

I've both an early Browning Buckmark, it's got the early non click adjustable sights. I've no idea of how many thousands of rounds she's digested. All she's ever needed was patch through the bore once in awhile, bit of lube on the rails, and a wipe down at the end of the day.
My Ruger MkII is the goverment target model. Almost frightenly accurate, but she's heavy. |

My MKIII has new Hogue grips and a red dot and I swear it is like a hand held rifle. I will never sell it.

Wow, one to two thousand rounds on a weekend? It's hard enough for me to got off 500 rounds on a day at the range. But then again, I'm shooting with a T/C Contender and that a single shot pistol.
That's a lot of ammo. |
