Mosin Nagant M44 ( I finally got one!) - The Firearms Forum

Well a customer dropped by the shop to get some pars installed on his Harley , and we got to talking about guns and he told me he had bought 3 M44's for 79 bucks apiece and was wishing he had only got one so me and a co-worker bought one each from him at a 1 dollar markup for 80 bucks I havn't had a chance to shoot it yet , but its cool as heck!

Its gonna shoot high left witht he bayonet folded. extend the bayonet to bring your shots in. Thats how they were zeroed. They are mean little guns. And LOUD!

bought some unmarked surplus ammo for 6 bucks per 20 rounds and he threw an extra 20 rounds in the sack so 30 bucks for 120 rounds so the only thing stoppin me from shooting it is time

DON'T SHOOT IT!

You'll get hooked, then it'll be a M91/30, then a M-39, then a M-38, etc.

What's the head stamps on the ammo? We can tell ya from where and when.

188 on one side 76 on the other
google-fu says its russian and made in 1976 probably steel core cuz it's silver tipped

Yep, Russian light ball, 147grn FMJBT, silver tip or nothing denotes light ball, yellow denotes heavy ball, yellow with a spot of silver on the tip denotes heavyball steel core.
You'll love the fireball, don't forget your sunscreen.

Saw a guy shoot one of those AND the full size 91/30 last time I was at the range. The carbine had a HUGE muzzle flash, and had a bigger boom.

Awesome ! March has an enemy at the gates shoot here.... Depending on how if shoots I may enter the competition, should be fun even if I don't shoot worth a crap

Wouldnt it be fun to enter blindly having never fired the weapon..

THAT would a be a true test of marksmanship skill and patience.

I got one also, I've 2 sons in the Marine Corp and they both love shooting the "Beast" as they call it, of course they get to shoot the modern stuff and all, but still love to bring the M44 and the other Mosins out to the range and watch there friends expressions when they fire them off, seems they can't wait to get their chance to shoot it, always the talk of watching the muzzle blast and dirt flying around on the ground in front of it. Have a Mauser 24/47 also and between these it seems they are always being fired.

On top of that my Wife got me a .45-70 Handi Rifle! Now I can't wait to shoot it either

AMEN to that!!!!!! Been about 15-16 years ago for me. I was told by my friend that if i shot it that i would want it! WEEELLLLLLLL..... Yap he was right!
