These whores and parasites will have voted themselves
$21,000+ over a 5 year period. Not to mention the perks and bennies plus a fat retirement pay.
And why is it they are not required to participate in the
Social Security fraud like the rest of us working stiffs ?
Remember folks, these whores and parasites are living off of the
backs of us working stiffs without any shame.
How is it that a servant is better off than the master ?
The average working stiff out here is lucky to make that a year ! For them they are just raises.
You can't tell me that these parasites are worth it !
They are the reason this country is going to hell in a
handbasket with their Unconstitutional lawmaking.

I heard about this on the radio this morning. They already make something like $158,000 a year! And they want a raise at our expense?!?

I find it disturbing that Congress can increase their salary whenever they feel like it. I'm not normally one for changing the Constitution or anything, but I would sure like to see their salaries determined by an independent council.

Well, Shizamus, Article I Section 6 of the Constitution says:

The Senators and Representatives shall receive a compensation for their services, to be ascertained by law, and paid out of the treasury of the United States.

Who makes the law? They do. They can set their salary wherever they feel like. The 27th Amendment only says that the salary change takes effect after the next election. But it still doesn't change the fact that they can give themselves a raise (provided that they get re-elected). So in order for someone else to determine their compensation, the Constitution would have to be amended.
