I stuck this here mainly because I didn't know where else to put it. If it's in the wrong place, please move it! http://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/201...gauge-shotgun/

Thats pretty stupid. why would they even post that? Seem slike a huge amount of liability on their part. you know some dumbass is gonna hurt himself trying this at home.
On a similar note tho, it gave me a sweet idea for saboted .50 cal loads for a 12 ga slug gun.. ![]()

Not for nothing but those two seem to have a bit too much time on their hands. That being said it was an interesting watch to see how it worked.

Reminds me of a line you do NOT want to hear when riding in your buddy's pickup. "Put your seatbelt on, I want to try something".

Did they take it down? All I got was a blank screen that said advertisement and a bunch of comments below that.
I'm assuming that someone was shooting 50 BMG from a 12 gauge? ![]()

Highboy, I am not sure I would want to be part of any of that crazy stuff, several years back maybe but not now.

Well, I am impressed. A quick Google-fu on SAAMI specs shows approx. 13,000 PSI MAX for 12gauge, and 54,000 PSI for .50BMG. BIG difference!!
That the shorgun stood up to it for at least a couple shots speaks well for the design. But, you wouldn't get me to shoot it from my shoulder....... ![]()

I can't believe nobody understands how ammunition works. In order for a cartridge to reach it's designed operating pressure, it has to have a chamber that fits the cartridge case, and a barrel that fits the bullet. Did you notice that they had to wrap tape around the 50 BMG shell to hold it in the 12 ga. chamber?
As soon as the powder begins to burn, the shell expands to the 12 g. chamber to leave a 50 cal,(.500) bullet in a .729 barrel. Nothing to contain the pressure. The fact that it had any velocity at all is simply a function of a lot of gas and powder flying PAST the bullet. The bullet also will tumble almost immediately after leaving the barrel.

Actually the .50 BMG uses a .510" bullet.
