Default My Savage and planning on buying another one.

Here is my Savage Model 25 .223 Caliber Rifle. Shot it again today and very accurate. So humid I had to leave quick. I am saving up for another one and have over $500 saved up for it but I got some bills first before I donate some more cash for it . The good thing is there is no neighbors around the farm because I love the echo of the round going off. The humidity was so bad.

Thank You Beth. I consider it a piece of art. I want to get my hands on another one before these models leave Savage's line of work but I know for sure Savage will always make accurate awesome firearms. Nice talking to you

Im going to buy another Model 25 .223 for my father and then for the rest of my family to use but Im also thinking as well about getting a .270 I believe Savage has one in the same model. Both sounds good to me A .338 Lapua is out of my budget. The rifle isnt out of my budget but the ammo is high so Im going to get the both of those in a few weeks instead of the lapua

I believe the Lapua that Savage has is called THE LONG RANGE HUNTER but after looking through the ammo prices they are not real impressive to own. Too high for 20 rounds and I dont trust myself with reloading. I worry alot so I dont want anything to explode in my face

IMO, you cant hardly beat Savage Rifles.
The .223 rem caliber is a great round and Savage makes nice ones.
With the .270 Win Caliber, (i may be wrong) but I think the Model Savage
would be in the 110?

The .270 Caliber isnt to hard on the wallet, nothing like the .338 Lapua!!!
I shot alot of .270 rounds and their about a buck a shot, depends on what
brand ammo you go with.

Eiither way though (claiber), cant go wrong with a Savage!!!!
EDIT: I have three Savages, .223, .30-o6, 7mmMag and they all
shoot great.

Yeah Im going to go with another .223 Also a .270 Savage.I thought a .270 was made in a model 25 Savage as well? .338 No way to that, Im going to look up some .270 ammo. I know that remington had some .270 for $13....12 years ago. I seen now and its crazy! Go figure though everytime im out on the place I quit my .223 because after 20 shots the barrel gets hot and I dont want the heat to hurt it.

So I guess a dollar a shot is worth it for a bigger caliber. It takes a long time for the barrel to cool down. Ill get a .270 for sure but I will certainly get another .223 Model 25

Well with any rifle (high velocity) your barrel is going to heat up and you
dont want that, to an extent that it'll hurt your barrel.
If you putting a lot of lead down range in a day and your barrel heats up,
give it a break. best way is to take you a couple of "fireams" and switch off.

But if your fireing one and the barrel gets heated up, stop and open your bolt
up and lean the rifle with the muzzel pointing up. That way the barrel will cool
down faster. if the barrel is to a point it's too hot to touch, it's to hot and needs
to cool down,

Yup, that's why I'm getting a 223 (Savage Axis) because shooting my dad's .270 costs too much each trip to the range. I am going to finally order the Axis this weekend actually.

NICE!
When Savage came out with the (was called the Edge) I was wanting
one pretty bad!
With the .223 caliber the ammo is a heck of alot cheaper. If you go
with Federal (American Eagle) ammo in FMJ, you can get the ammo
at a good price. It depends on what the rifle likes, but with mine,
(sav.bvss-.223) I buy the Hornady Training Brass, 50rds for about
$30/.64 cents a shot. (give'er take)

At the time i was looking to but one after they had just come out, I coudlnt
fine any feedback from anyone that had shot them out past 100 yds.
I'd seen them on "gunnuts" on the outdoor channel (I think, or sportsman) and
they too only shot them at 100. My nephew is going to get him a new one
in .223 rem I think...he's wanting one!

Pretty firearm FF. Good decision to change stocks, it's beautifull! I'm a Rem guy but have some Savage and like them just as much. I agree they are tack drivers, and very cost effective for the accuracy you get.

I never much cared for the Savage 25s. Built too much like the rimfires to suit my liking. the set up is plenty robust for rimfires but leaves a bit to be desired behind centerfires much bigger than the hornets.

I much prefer the 10/110 action. and the Savage 10 Precision Carbine is one of the most accurate .223 savages ever built (aside from the Target model 12s of course).

Savage just makes a good quality rifle.

What Model (25?) is that FF, and you went with the 26" barrel?

IT Started as Stevens 200 I bought for 200.00,,Bought a 223 Target/Varmit which a Member of MN Guntalk offered me a deal on ,,The Boyds stock which is a complete drop-in for the 22 inch Skinney Barrel took a lot of Sanding to get the Fat Barrel to fit,,it,s close but I,m going to bed the action and will also add about an inch to the stock for a better fit,,,the Rifle complete with Scope weighs in at a touch over 11lbs,,kinda heaftie but I,ts a Range Queen ,,I estimate my total investment with the exception of the scope to be around 600.00 don,t know if thats reasonable but I also gained some great Knowledge from a Gunsmith who helped me with the install
