Default Baby Nambu

I have a Baby Nambu the I would like to get info on, I inherited it from my father in law. I've never heard of one and was wondering what it's collector value is and if it is a reliable shooter.

Are we playing games???

The first couple of pictures are of a Luger, The next two appear to be of a Baby but are such close-ups not much can be seen.

Even in that poor condition, a Baby Nambu will bring around $1500; a nice one will go for around $5k. Please do not attempt to fire or dry fire that pistol as firing pins frequently break if dry fired. Insert a dowel into the barrel and against the bolt face to act as a snap cap when you release the firing pin.

As for shooting, original 7mm ammo is running around $35 apiece on the collector market and AFAIK, no one is making any. Note that 7mm is correct; the standard military pistol was in 8mm, but the Baby Nambu was sold privately to officers and used a special 7mm round.

That gun was made at the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal in Koishigawa, probably around 1910. The markings on the right side translate as Nambu Type.

The holster is a modern reproduction.

Too bad about the holster being a reproduction. If it was original it would be worth upwards of $3000.
