If you look at the ballistic tables the 7mm mag/ the 270/ the 243/ have almost identical trajectory's with different bullet weights if you want to shoot 500 yds no problem, I have and it took me about 2 weeks of trigger time and some very serious time at the reloading bench but if you can do 6x8 targets out to 500 that should be sufficient the key is not the gun sir it's the shooter first then the bullet but the gun is last. sorry, beware the man with one gun he's going to beat you every time, white feather only used one gun,it was not a 300WM.

You need to get you a 16 inch 45/70 barrel for it. It is a handfull.
