Default Treasure?

I inherited a pearl handled .22 caliber, 5 shot, nickel plated revolver from my father. The only information stamped on the gun (inside or out) is "CAL22/M" on the left side of the frame; and 1259 on teh top side of the barrel. The whole thing is less than 4" long. The trigger is not guarded and folds forward, parallel to the barrel.

It was my grandfathers' and I'm trying to find out information about it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am no expert on older stuff, no idea. But, I bet a picture would help someone identify it for you. I have seen a couple of guys on here identify stuff easily because they had the same gun in the picture. Good luck.

Treasure? The magic 8 ball says, "doubtful"...probably not.
Do Google Image search on these words: velo dog revolver
Do any of those pictures look like your gun?

The Magic 8 Ball is right more often than it is wrong.
Sounds like a Velo Dog thats been fancied up a bit. All the ones I have encountered have had black grips on them.

So many variations/copies of the Velo Dog were made by so many different european manufacturer's that it ain't funny...
most were closed by WW2, so little info can be found these days...

They were cheap pistols meant to shoot dogs that attacked one while innocently walking along thru a neighborhood...
try to do that these days and PETA crawls up yer wazoo

Joe, these guys will tell you like it is, however, as an heirloom it is still priceless because of the memories of who owned it.

"Velo" part of the name comes from the FRENCH for bicyle - dog chases you while riding your $1000 mountain bike - you shoot it with a low powered .25 caliber "dog" cartridge then hope the ASPCA don't catch up wid ya.
