Anyone looking for a quiet at 64db ammo for pest control. tree rat hunting or for a home shooting range my want to check out the cci quiet ammo. It shoots a 40gr bullet at an advertized 710fps , 704fps out of my wifes 10/22 and it cycles fine in it. Will check for accuracy in a day or too when the wind and cold go away. Sounds like an air rifle while shooting it. Price is cheap to at 28 bucks for 500 rounds from midway. My LGS got them for $27.75 out the door.

That sounds about like their CB shorts. I just shot a bunch of them today. Of course you need a gun that will shoot shorts. There was another brand of shorts that were made about 20 years ago that were extremely quiet. I don't even remember what brand they were but I do remember how quiet they were.
I haven't seen any of the CCI rounds you describe. They seem to be CCI's answer to the Aquila Colibri and Super Colibri rounds. But the Aquila stuff is actually less powerful and probably quieter. But I can't get them to hit anything past 5 feet away. |

cbshorts don't use 40gr bullets so it has a bit of powder in it
Fired several groups through a couple rifles I and my kids have and found semi-auto cycleing veried . And accuracy thru known very good rifles was below my hopes with 5/8" to 3/4" 25 yard groups. Gave the ammo to my kids. Last edited by hardluk1; 03-06-2012 at 09:58 AM.. |
