Very nice I am impressed with it. I searched all over and every where I checked was out of them. I got this one (NIB) from a family owned gun shop in California. I had my dealer fax his FFL I paid for it with my Credit Card and he mailed it off on Mon Parcel Post and It came today to WI. A bit faster then I thought it would be. I do not care for the factory grips though and I went to a gun show tonite and found a GI pair of the Plastic checkered grips for ten bucks. That will do until I find some exotic wood ones OR I may make a set myself if I find the right wood. I am also happy that it was the old style writing and logo on the slide not the newer style.

Where are those pictures?
I took one of my 1911s apart last week and had one heck of a time getting it back together, could not figure out where one little part went. Thank the Lord for you-tube videos though.

God only knows where this one went Hawg. Glad to know I am not the only one that has done it. But darn the first time field stripping. I had a 1911 Norinco years ago when they were not banned and I never had an issue with that one. This open ended plug is tougher. GDMoody gonna put some better grips on it and when I get the plug and its all together I will post some pics.

I like flush mount mags with no bumpers so now I just use the toe of one of them. It's a lot easier to control than using your thumb.

I have seen guys use a bushing tool to remove the plug and spring...you put the wrench on and turn and it stays over the plug. I have barely 500 rounds through mine and the spring is already loose enough to hold the plug with my thumb. I sent the plug and spring flying the first time I took it apart too.....

Yeah they should work fine but why would RIA not have any?
I've got a bushing wrench I used on my last 1911 but it doesn't work on this one. |

Why doesn't the bushing wrench fit? I was thinking of getting one.

Maybe because it's a Wilson Combat wrench. My last 1911 had a WC bushing.

OH? Not familiar with our own gripmaker Carl? See his work at cwgrips.com or just visit his storefront here at TFF.

Carl does great work! When I save up enough for a 1911, I will be calling on him for sure!

With Respect to Carl who's grips look great these grips I bought were to me a luxury at 50 dollars. Buying the gun pretty much spent my budget. I am on SS disability and since I got a windfall I bought the gun. I wanted something better than the standard 35 dollar checkered grips but I could not afford the 100 dollar grips I wanted either so this was a compromise to my pocket book.
