Case length after resizing 22-250 - The Firearms Forum

What case length do you use after resizing 22-250 case? Is there a best starting length? MD Smith recommends 1.9020 and isn't that kinda short? Just curious. Thanks.

I just take them down to whatever the listed trim to length is, according to my Lyman manual. I don't have it handy or can recall it at the moment. Whatever your manual says, try to abide by it.

1.912" is the SAAMI spec max length
1.902" is the SAAMI "trim-to" length
That's typical SAMMI trim spec length....0.010" less than the max length.

Measure your cases after resizing them. If they're at 1.912" or longer, then it's time to trim them. Trim to 1.902" and they should be good for a few loadings until you need to trim them again. No need to trim every time.

My Lee pilot for the .22-250 actually trims em to a nice even 1.900" so that's what I use. I'm not gonna worry about 0.002" shorter than spec.
