Default cold weather AR15.

Howdy heres my guestion. Is there a cold weather AR 15 in 5.56? Im looking for a rifle that can take -20 wind chill and keep on kicking. My brother stated he belived that most of the new models as well as some of older standbys should have no problem. How ever we had a rock river AR 15 out in 10 degree weather and it didnt work so good.Any input, info, would be great thanx!!

Default Re: cold weather AR15.

If your AR is reliable at normal temps, then cold weather malfunctions
are probably due to the type of lube that you use. Dry lubes, such
as the Otis Dry and Militech are popular up here. Have known people
to clean and lube with a light coating of diesel. The Army used to use
a product called LSA for warm and LAW for cold weather.

To –70 deg F (-17.8 deg – 56.6 deg. C). This lubricating oil is identified by military symbol LAW and NATO code # 0-157.
